WORK EXPERIENCE

DIGITAL MARKETING TRAINEE

In 2020 I'd enrolled in an internship with BrightSparks, a company that develops social media material and marketing strategies, focusing on human-betterment programs. Here I learned a great deal of valuable information from the fundamentals of certain services such as Zoho and Wix, to the more nuanced nature of understanding the methodology that goes into a creative process. I developed website design, wrote blogposts, and put great thought and care into presenting relevant ideas to a social media calendar.

FREELANCE GRAPHIC DESIGNER

I work part-time, independently on various projects in the York area, and have produced assets such as vector logos, posters and large prints, all uniquely different in aesthetics and designs based on customers’ individual requirements. I’ve also worked on a couple independent projects such as environmentally conscious graphics for printing on plastic carrier bags.

VISUAL DESIGNER

In early 2018 I joined with a small team to develop visual assets for an untitled video game project. I was responsible for developing User Interface design concepts, character design, and animation sequences. Elements of this project can be found in my portfolio, but the project was unfortunately never completed. I acted as the one and only person responsible for all the visual development of the project, and thus it wasn’t sustainable to be working on for free. (It was a very huge workload of handdrawn animation for a single person.)

CATERER/BARTENDER

I worked part-time in a local public house.  I have found this has been of great benefit to me in relation to both my confidence and team-working skills.  I received a written commendation from a customer, who expressed his gratitude and admiration for the way I was able to manage staff and the food and drink service at an extremely busy time, whilst remaining courteous and professional.  Although I enjoyed this role, it did not make the best use of my qualifications, and I am keen to start working full-time in the design industry as soon as possible.

PART-TIME STUDENT WORK

Whilst studying, I have also worked in retail and in catering to help support myself through University.  In Leicester, I worked in retail at the GAME store. In York, I have worked at York Races, The Woolpack Inn and Charles XII public house.  These were all part-time temporary positions.

ROOFER/LABOURER

My late father used to run his own roofing company, and I would regularly help him on-site with various labouring roles. These would include mixing cement, laying bricks, drilling support beams and lifting up tarmac using a pneumatic drill. As an artist it was good to gain a grasp on the internal formatting for developing construction designs.
